Designer & Maker Space is all about providing local creatives with additional resources to boost our local micro businesses and manufacturers in Melbourne and surrounds.
The casual hire space, located in the South- East suburb of Oakleigh, is equipped with specialised equipment for the textile and fashion industry.
With an on-going commitment to design, craftsmanship and skill training in the fashion industry, Founder Meg Parry launched the space with the goal to open up more opportunity for others in the creative industries.
Facilities
Designer & Maker Space offers an array of industrial manufacturing equipment and tools.
From industrial straight stitch sewing machines, overlockers, to an automatic block fusing machine.
Your booking will include access to off-street parking, complimentary WiFi, a kitchenette equipped with; Kettle, microwave, refridgerator, cutlery and complimentary tea and coffee. .
We have a designated break area where you will be able to enjoy a break as you please during your booking.

The induction includes an Occupational Health and Safety information session and an introduction to the available industrial equipment within the space.

Yes, you will have access to a communal fridge, kettle and microwave available for your use during your time of hire.
There is complimentary tea, coffee and sugar, along with some crockery and cutlery in the allocated kitchenette break area.

Within the standard Designer and Maker Space hire, we offer access to the following industrial machines; a plain straight stitch machine, overlocker/ baby locker and industrial iron/boiler.

Unfortunately, any machines marked with a red dot are not available for hire. They require specialised operation from a technician. This is for your own safety.

Currently workshops which require operation of machinery are currently not permitted within the space. This is due to occupational health and safety reasons and each individual will need to undertake our Studio Induction to work on the machinery.
For any guests or group bookings in the space, that do not require operation of equipment, please contact us directly with your enquiry.
